Three-dimensional puzzles and models are built from flat pieces that depend on slot width, tab length and assembly order. Measure the actual sheet rather than relying on its nominal thickness. If the folder includes no numbered diagram, inspect the shapes and make a temporary assembly plan before using a full sheet.

Use a small fit test to find a slot width that holds securely without splitting thin parts. Kerf, grain direction and surface coating all affect the result. Keep left and right pieces organized, and avoid mirroring directional parts unless the design clearly calls for it.

Consider the intended user

Round or sand sharp edges when appropriate and check for loose pins, gears or decorative pieces. Small parts can create a choking risk and should not be treated as safe children’s toys merely because the archive labels a design as a puzzle. Moving models also need adequate clearance so parts do not bind. A downloadable file is not a product safety test, so evaluate the finished object for its real use before giving or selling it.
