USE RESPONSIBLY
Rights & Licensing
A file being downloadable does not automatically mean it is cleared for every personal, commercial or redistribution use.
No blanket commercial license
Open Laser Files does not grant a universal commercial license to the archive and does not claim ownership of every included design. Rights may vary by individual file and original source. If a folder contains a license, read it carefully and confirm that it applies to the exact design, version and intended use.
Use a file-by-file rights check
- Record the exact filename, folder path and download date.
- Look for a license, readme or source link inside the archive.
- Identify the creator or rights holder when that information is available.
- Check whether the license permits personal use, finished-product sales, client work or digital redistribution.
- If the source or permission is unclear, do not assume the broader use is allowed.
A generic “commercial use” label in a folder name is not enough when it cannot be tied to a specific creator and license. Keep a copy of the permission relied on for any product or client project.
Digital redistribution
Do not resell, re-upload, bundle or redistribute a digital file unless you hold explicit rights to do so. Editing, tracing, converting or combining a file does not automatically create new rights. Providing the source file to a customer or marketplace can be redistribution even when the design was altered.
Protected brands and characters
Avoid logos, sports teams, vehicle badges, entertainment characters, celebrity likenesses and other protected identifiers without permission. Their presence in a community archive is not authorization. A license from the vector’s uploader also may not cover third-party trademark or character rights.
Finished physical products
Before selling a physical item, verify that the design permits commercial production and that other obligations—such as attribution, sales limits or prohibited marketplaces—are satisfied. Product safety, material suitability and local compliance remain separate from copyright permission.
